मुगल बादशाह जहांगीर के विद्रोही पुत्र शहजादे खुसरो ने 1606 ई. में विद्रोह कर पंजाब की ओर पलायन किया। तरनतारन में पांचवें गुरु अर्जुन देव ने उसे शरण, आशीर्वाद एवं आर्थिक सहायता दी। इससे क्रुद्ध होकर जहांगीर ने गुरु पर राजद्रोह का आरोप लगाते हुए विशाल जुर्माना लगाया। गुरु द्वारा जुर्माना देने से इनकार करने पर उन्हें कठोर यातनाएं देकर 1606 ई. में लाहौर में शहीद कर दिया गया।
In 1606 CE, Emperor Jahangir's eldest son Prince Khusrau rebelled and fled towards Punjab. At Tarn Taran, the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev, gave him refuge, blessings, and financial assistance. Enraged by this, Jahangir accused the Guru of treason and imposed a heavy fine. Upon the Guru's refusal to pay, he was imprisoned, brutally tortured, and executed at Lahore in 1606 CE.
