After the death of Mughal Emperor Babur, his son Humayun ascended the throne. To consolidate Mughal authority in Northern India, Humayun sought to bring Rajput principalities under control. For this purpose, he dispatched his brother Kamran Mirza against Rao Jaitsi (Rao Jait Singh), the independent ruler of Bikaner, in the 1530s.
