1296 ई. में जब अलाउद्दीन खिलजी ने (कड़ा के सूबेदार के रूप में) देवगिरि पर पहला आक्रमण किया, तब वहाँ का यादव शासक रामचंद्रदेव था। पराजित होकर रामचंद्रदेव ने प्रतिवर्ष कर देने का वादा किया था। बाद में जब रामचंद्रदेव ने कर भेजना बंद कर दिया, तो 1307 ई. में अलाउद्दीन ने मलिक काफूर के नेतृत्व में सेना भेजी। रामचंद्रदेव पुनः पराजित हुआ और अलाउद्दीन ने उसका सत्कार कर उसे 'राय रायाँ' की उपाधि और गुजरात की नवसारी जागीर दी।
At the time of Alauddin Khalji's first raid on Devagiri in 1296 AD (as governor of Kara), the ruler of the Yadava dynasty was Ramachandradeva. Facing defeat, he agreed to pay an annual tribute. When he later withheld tribute, Alauddin dispatched Malik Kafur in 1307 AD; Ramachandradeva surrendered, was honorably treated in Delhi, and received the title of 'Rai Rayan' along with the estate of Navsari.
