निम्नलिखित में से किसे सर्वश्रेष्ठ स्तूप मानते हैं?

स्थापत्य कला के दृष्टिकोण से सांची के स्तूप को सर्वश्रेष्ठ माना गया है। सांची, म.प्र. के रायसेन जिले में स्थित है। इसका निर्माण अशोक ने कराया था। इस स्तूप का आरंभिक काल तीसरी शताब्दी ईसा पूर्व था। अतः विकल्प (c) सही उत्तर है। जबकि भरहुत का स्तूप म.प्र. के सतना जिले में स्थित है। भरहुत के स्तूप की खोज एलेक्जेंडर कनिंघम ने की थी। अमरावती का स्तूप आंध्र प्रदेश के पलनाडु जिले में कृष्णा नदी के दाहिने तट पर स्थित है। कर्नल कॉलिन मैकेंजी ने 1797 ई. में इस स्तूप का पता लगाया था। सारनाथ का धमेख स्तूप मूलरूप से अशोक के समय बनवाया गया था, जिसका वर्तमान स्वरूप गुप्तकाल में निर्मित हुआ। यह स्तूप बिना अधिष्ठान के समतल भूमि पर बनाया गया है।
