With reference to Indian history, who among the following is a future Buddha, yet to come to save the world?
बौद्ध मान्यताओं के अनुसार, मैत्रेय एक बोधिसत्व है, जो पृथ्वी पर भविष्य में अवतरित होंगे और बुद्धत्व प्राप्त करेंगे तथा विशुद्ध धर्म की शिक्षा देंगे। मैत्रेय के अवतरण की भविष्यवाणी ऐसे समय के लिए की गई है, जब इस लोक में अनैतिकता अनाचार इतना बढ़ जाएगा कि मानव जीवन असुरक्षित होता दिखेगा, सुरक्षा के लिए लोग इधर-उधर भटकेंगे। सर्वत्र त्राहि-त्राहि मच जाएगी और मानव जीवन संघर्षमय बनता दिखेगा। ऐसे आपातकाल में 'बोधिसत्व मैत्रेय' इस भूतल पर भविष्य के बुद्ध के रूप में अवतार लेंगे। वह पुनः बौद्ध धर्म की संस्थापना करेंगे और सभी मानवों को सुख, शांति एवं समृद्धि प्रदान करेंगे।
Maitreya makes his first appearance in Buddhist scriptures in the Cakkavatti Sutta of Pali Tripitika. In this sutta, the Buddha spoke of a future time in which the dharma is entirely forgotten. Eventually, "Another Buddha- Maitreya will gain awakening, his monastic Sangh numbering in the thousand, the Buddha said. This is the only time the historical Buddha is recorded as mentioning Maitreya.
