डॉ. जे.एन. पाण्डेय की पुस्तक 'पुरातत्व विमर्श' के अनुसार, विंध्य क्षेत्र के लेखहिया के शिलाश्रय संख्या 1 से मध्यपाषाणिक लघुपाषाण उपकरणों के अतिरिक्त 17 मानव कंकाल प्राप्त हुए हैं, जिनमें से कुछ सुरक्षित हालत में हैं तथा अधिकांश क्षत-विक्षत अवस्था में प्राप्त हुए हैं। संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के ओरेगॉन विश्वविद्यालय के जॉन आर. लुकास के अनुसार, लेखहिया में कुल 27 मानव कंकालों की अस्थियां मिली हैं।
According to 'Puratatva Vimarsh' by J.N. Pandey, 17 human skeletons were obtained from rock shelter 1 of Lekhahiya in the Vindhya region. Some of these were in relatively pristine condition while most of the others were warped. According to John R. Lucas of the University of Oregon (USA), remnants of 27 human skeletons were found in Lekhahiya.
