Dr. Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya was the official historian of the Indian National Congress. Commissioned on the occasion of the Congress Golden Jubilee in 1935, he authored the definitive two-volume work titled 'The History of the Indian National Congress'. In 1939, he was the candidate backed by Mahatma Gandhi who was defeated by Subhash Chandra Bose for the Congress presidency at Tripuri.
