The renowned 18th-century female mystic and devotional poetess Dayabai was a leading disciple of Sant Charandas (founder of the Charandasi sect). Born in the village of Dehra in the Mewat (Alwar) region of Rajasthan, she authored the celebrated devotional works 'Dayabodh' and 'Vinaya Malika'. Another celebrated female poet-saint, Sahjobai, was also a fellow disciple of Sant Charandas.
