Dr. Rajendra Prasad was born on 3 December 1884 in the village of Ziradei in Siwan district of Bihar. A stalwart of the freedom movement from the 1917 Champaran Satyagraha through the 1942 Quit India Movement, he served as the permanent President of the Constituent Assembly (1946–1950) and as the first President of independent India (1950–1962).
