The founder of the worldwide Boy Scouts and Civil Guides movement was Lieutenant-General Robert Baden-Powell of the British Army. He organized the inaugural scout camp at Brownsea Island, England, in 1907 and authored 'Scouting for Boys' in 1908. Following this global movement, scouting was formally introduced in India in 1909 and girl guiding in 1911.
