Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution and independent India's first Law Minister, passed away on 6 December 1956 at his residence in New Delhi. This day is observed across India as 'Mahaparinirvan Diwas'. He was born on 14 April 1891 at Mhow (Madhya Pradesh) and was posthumously conferred the Bharat Ratna in 1990.
