In September 1928 at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds in Delhi, the HRA was reorganized into the 'Hindustan Socialist Republican Association' (HSRA) under the overarching leadership of Chandrashekhar Azad (who was appointed its Commander-in-Chief) and the ideological impetus of Bhagat Singh.
