रामोसी विद्रोह पश्चिमी घाट (महाराष्ट्र) के सतारा, पुणे आदि क्षेत्रों में हुआ था। पश्चिमी घाट की पहाड़ियों में रहने वाली रामोसी जनजाति मराठों के समय किलों की पहरेदारी करती थी। 1818 ई. में पेशवा की पराजय के बाद अंग्रेजों द्वारा उनके अधिकार समाप्त करने और अकाल के कारण 1822 ई. में सरदार चित्तर सिंह के नेतृत्व में तथा बाद में 1825-26 ई. में उमाजी नाईक के नेतृत्व में रामोसियों ने विद्रोह किया था।
The Ramosi Uprising took place geographically in the Western Ghats (around Satara and Pune in Maharashtra). The Ramosis, traditional hill watchmen under Maratha rule, lost their livelihood and land rights after the British annexation of the Peshwa's territories in 1818. Facing acute famine, they rebelled under Sardar Chittur Singh in 1822 and later under Umaji Naik in 1825–26.
