During the viceroyalty of Lord Hardinge II (1910–1916), the Third Delhi Durbar was held in December 1911 to commemorate the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary. In this Durbar, on December 12, 1911, the partition of Bengal was annulled and the historic transfer of the imperial capital from Calcutta to Delhi was proclaimed, which was officially executed in 1912.
